I run a number of courses throughout the year in leaded Stained Glass and also Glass Painting.
Beginners Stained Glass Course
£120 including all materials
Suitable for those with no previous experience this course will enable you to make a stained glass panel in a day. You will be guided through glass cutting, leading, soldering, cementing and finishing a panel.
Groups are limited to three people to ensure there is plenty of help and attention.
You will have the choice of making a panel from a selection of designs measuring 25cm x 25cm.
Course is run over 1 day from 10am – 4pm with a 1h break for lunch
Next Course Date: Saturday 26th January 2019
Glass Painting Course
£300 including all glass, paints and stains
There are currently no set dates for Glass Painting but bookings can be arranged by appointment. Please leave me a message here if you are interested in arranging a course or have questions about something specific you want to learn.
This course is suitable for begginners and for those with some previouse experience.
The course is run 1/1 allowing the best possible environment for discussion, lots of demonstration and practice at your own pace.
You will gain a comprehensive overview of tools, materials and technique. On the first day trace painting and silver staining will be explored. Your work will be fired overnight allowing a continuation on day two with matting and shading techniques. As well as learning fundamantal methods of glass painting there will also be the opportunity to explore your own ideas through creative experimentation and play.
Course is run over two days from 10am – 4pm with a 1h break for lunch
Booking and Refunds
Payment, in full, is required to confirm your place on the course.
Refunds will only be made if the course is cancelled by the tutor, which will happen if there are not enough students to run a class viably or because of tutor illness.
Because the course is only economically viable with 3 people, if you have booked but are then unable to attend there will be no refund. An alternative date will be offered in the event that your place can be filled by a new student.
Can I bring my own design to make
Students often over estimate how much can be achieved in a day and its a shame not to be able to finish something you have started making, so for this reason a selection of designs to choose from are supplied which ensures everyone can achieve all of the processes needed to complete a piece in a day.
Can I attand if I'm a pregnant or nursing mother
Because we will be working with lead / or glass paints and stains this is not recommened.
Parking and Transport
My studio is a 15 minute walk from Temple Meads Station, and a 25 minute walk from the central bus station. Parking can normally be found in the streets on windmill hill which is a short 5 minute walk through Victoria park.
Please bring a packed lunch to eat in the sudio or buy yourself lunch in the City Farm cafe opposite. There are also a number of local shops nearby.
"My son Sam and I had a fantastic day with Stuart! He gently guided us through all the stages of selecting and cutting glass, working with lead cames and soldering joints. We were each able to create our first stained glass panel in a day. We very much look forward to returning for more sessions and want to try painting on glass. And a very yummy lunch is available just over the road at the City Farm! A superb day, thank you, Stuart!"
