low visability on the Ben

The first time I’d walked Ben Nevis in winter. It was a an amazing day and one I’ll always remember. Half way up the mountain the paths gradually disappeared under thickening snow requiring careful navigation on compass bearings, the cloud base was low and visability in the white landscape was reduced to only a few meters.

The cairns were thickly coated with rime ice and snow, almost invisible across the plateau
